ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE (EAL) SUPPORT

Harrow International School Bengaluru is a diverse, international community, and we value the linguistic and cultural backgrounds that our pupils bring to school.

Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision is designed to support pupils who are developing confidence and proficiency in English, ensuring they can access the curriculum fully and thrive both academically and socially.

EAL support is:
  • Carefully planned and targeted to individual needs
  • Delivered through a combination of in-class strategies and small-group or individual support where appropriate
  • Closely monitored to track progress in language acquisition and curriculum access

Class teachers, EAL specialists and subject leads work collaboratively to ensure that language support is integrated into everyday teaching, while maintaining high expectations for all learners.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM – CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Learning at Harrow Bengaluru extends well beyond the classroom. Our Primary co-curricular programme is a carefully planned and valued part of school life, designed to complement the academic curriculum and support children’s personal development.

Through a broad range of co-curricular activities, pupils have opportunities to develop confidence, creativity, physical literacy, teamwork and curiosity. Activities are age-appropriate, progressive and inclusive, allowing children to explore interests, discover talents and challenge themselves in new ways, while remaining firmly rooted in our values-led approach to education.

  • Parent workshops to support children’s learning at home
  • Open classrooms
  • Opportunities for parents to share skills, culture and expertise
  • Parent Committee representation across year groups
